Billion years ago we have two moons

The astronomers from the University of California Santa Cruz believe that we have two moons 4.5 billions years ago. These two moons were created in the same way by a planet crashing into earth and kicking debris up. These two moons co-existed for 80 millions until the small moon smashed our existing moon.
When we observe our moon, we can see our moon quite flat. But the other side of our moon is full of debris and mountains, which is the result of two moon collision.
The theory, outlined in the journal Nature, with computer model simulation shows how smaller moon smashed into the other.

The duel Earth theory is not widely supported as there is very little anecdotal evidence to suggest that the Earth had two moons, although the Earth has a small Trojan leading the Earths’ orbit around the Sun.
