God particle Higgs still not found yet
August 29th 2011 04:59
The Higgs boson is a hypothetical massive elementary particle predicted to exist by the Standard Model of particle physics. The Higgs boson is the only Standard Model particle that has not been observed in particle physics experiments.
Since 2009 LHC, located near Geneva, Switzerland, has smashed protons together to nearly the speed of light, the God particle Higgs in Standard Model is still not found yet. The Higgs mass range is getting narrow, between 115 GeV and 145 GeV, which is announced on 22 August 2011, at the Lepton-Photon conference in Mumbai, India.
Does this mean Standard Model no more correct? Is there new physics? Very likely.
I am glad to see that the Higgs boson is not found. This means there will be new exciting physics. If the Higgs boson is found and the Standard Model is fully correct, the physics in this century will be very bored.
We are in exciting times for new physics, although it is too early to say the Higgs boson not existing.
