Space rock close to earth on Nov 8
November 6th 2011 00:22
Asteroid 2005 YU55, which is 400 meters in diameter, will pass within 0.85 lunar distances of the Earth on November 8, 2011. A lunar distance is a measurement of the distance from the Earth to the Moon. It is predicted no unusual level of danger. It could be observed by a telescope and the best time is in the early evening on November 8 from the East Coast of the United States. It would be interesting to see the surface of the asteroid 2005 YU55 when it drops by.
NASA Near Earth Object Program keeps an Eye on Space Rocks. They discover asteroids and comets with unusual orbits to prepare for future. Each day, Earth is bombarded with tons of dust and particles from outer space, but few of them are dangerous. The Near Earth Object Program website can be found HERE.

NASA scientists will track asteroid 2005 YU55 from the agency's Deep Space Network at Goldstone, Calif. for at least four hours each day from Nov. 6 through Nov. 10, 2011.
