Will self-conscious robot be the next natural evolution?

The robot is silicon basis while the mankind is carbon basis. Silicon basis is more stable and adaptable than carbon basis. Will the self-conscious robot be in the evolution path? Our nervous systems take hundred millions years of evolution to today complexity while the emergence of robot is only less than 100 years.

Should we design robots with self-adapting, self-controlling, self-organizing and self-conscious features? It is our decision who will conquer the earth
in future, robot or human?
